The device's core strength lies in its compatibility. It is backward compatible with any Bolt of the same range – Sidekick II / LT / XT, and 703 Bolt. This broad compatibility offers users unmatched flexibility in building onto their existing systems or linking with others already on set.

The Bolt 500 XT goes beyond delivering high-definition video; it also ensures that your valuable footage remains secure. Unlike some alternative wireless video systems, it incorporates a unique AES 128 encryption algorithm. This security feature guarantees that only authorised receivers can connect to the transmitter, thereby protecting your video footage from potential breaches.

Each transmitter is equipped with an HDMI, 3G-SDI, and looping 3G-SDI output. The receivers, on the other hand, boast dual 3G-SDI outputs. This suite of output options makes the Bolt 500 XT versatile enough to handle diverse high-definition video transmission requirements.

The device's design acknowledges the importance of practical mounting options on set. With the Bolt XT line, Teradek has added an integrated NATO rail on the receiver and several 1/4”-20 and 3/8” mounting points on the transmitter. An all-new aluminium chassis trims down the size and weight of the Bolt line, making the device incredibly portable and easy to manage on set. To further improve its wireless performance, the internal antennas on the Bolt 500 XT transmitter have been replaced with an external set. This design enhances the device's performance when operating in environments with large obstacles or heavy interference.

Finally, the Bolt XT is multicast capable of connecting to four receivers (one is included). It also includes built-in cross conversion and Teradek’s proprietary software utilities, such as a manual frequency-selection tool, 3D LUT engine, and a 5GHz spectrum analyser. These utilities assist you in maintaining a clean, interference-free wireless video transmission, enabling you to focus on your craft and deliver your best work every time.
